The tax increases in Colorado are ridiculous, and steps need to be taken to reign in the out-of-control spending
My home in golden is now assessed over 1 million dollars . I could not sell the property for this amount. I dispute my tax bill every year and get minimal relief. The assessor uses homes that are not comparable sales to my property to justify the increase. Extremely frustrating. This property is a rental, and I cannot increase rent enough to be fair to my tenants to cover the increase.
It is really sad that the property taxes are pricing people out of their homes. There needs to be a limit on what the properties can be taxed, and it should be reduced not increased.

Summary
Remember the reason we are in this mess is that special interests convinced voters that the Gallagher amendment was bankrupting local governments and needed to be removed. Unfortunately this is the key reason we are in the crazy rising tax environment. Hopefully someone or some group steps forward with a ballot iniative.
